The article explores the association between birds and the man-managed element of poles and wires in the Deccan region. The study identifies various reasons why birds have adopted poles and wires, such as foraging, prey capture, courtship, nesting, and migration. The research findings reveal that out of 105 bird species, 20 mainly use poles, 35 mainly use wires, and 51 use both elements. The level of association varies among species, with casual use being the most common. The study emphasizes that the linkage between birds and poles and wires is relatively weak and dependent on the surrounding habitat. The article provides a list of bird species associated with poles and wires in the Deccan region.
